Mushroom & 3 Cheese Egg White Frittata
Mushroom and cheese is a classic combination that is sure to please anyone's taste buds. But if you're looking to make a healthier version of this dish, consider using egg whites instead of whole eggs in your frittata. Egg whites are a good source of protein and contain fewer calories and cholesterol than entire eggs.
To make a mushroom and three cheese egg white frittata, you'll need the following ingredients:
1 cup of egg whites
1 cup of sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup of grated cheddar cheese
1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese
1 tablespoon of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
First, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are tender about 5-7 minutes.
Whisk together the egg whites, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl. Pour the egg whites into the skillet with the mushrooms and sprinkle the grated Parmesan, cheddar, and feta cheeses over the top.
Cook the frittata until the eggs are set and the cheese is melted and bubbly about 8-10 minutes. If you'd like, you can place the skillet under the broiler for a minute or two to get a nice, golden brown finish on the top.
